Medusa's Hair Dew, a fountain by Mike Helbing Medusa's Hair Dew is a sculpture that is in Clarksville, Tennessee on the campus of Austin Peay State University. There are 19 tubes with over 50 orifices. It is based on the idea of Medusa getting dressed up for a night on the town. She is just from the hairdresser and is decked out in jewels and spitting out from her fangs. This fountain is circulating over 6,000 gallons of water per hour or 100 gallons per minute. She puts on quite a show and produces a cascade of rushing sound. The base alludes to a Mangrove tree and also contains the water feed. It is constructed of stainless steel. Medusa's Hair Dew stands about 20 foot tall and is about 8-9 foot in diameter. She was manufactured and installed in the fall of 2010. This Medusa won't turn you to stone when you are looking her at but it might take a while for you to walk past. Enjoy. Mike Helbing helbingstudio
